Harry Beck

Henry Charles Beck
(Harry Beck)

Harry Beck is known for creating the London Underground Tube Map. This is something that was a non-commission project that Beck worked on, during his spare time. Beck believed that the current version that existed of the underground tube system was not practical. He felt the map was very congested, as it was laid over the top of the roadways of London and seemed not very user friendly. The Tube map that was designed by Harry Beck was detailed more toward the users of the system being able to understand where platforms are and how to get from one to the other. His design was embraced immediately and has been used ever since.
