Storm Thorgerson

Storm Thorgerson was an English graphic designer. He worked with a vast amount of big name bands including Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Scorpions, Genesis and a bunch more. He was of Norwegian decent, and went to school in Cambridge with the founders of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett and Roger Waters, who were both a year above and a year below him respectively. He studies English and philosophy in Leicester, and then studied Film and television at the Royal college of Art, graduating with is masters. He founded the graphic artist group Hipnosis, and between them they design many famous album covers, in 1983 he started producing music videos.  His greatest album cover was the Pink Floyd: The Darkside of the moon. in 2013 Prog Magazine renamed is Grand design award after him, calling it the Storm Thorgerson Grand Design Award. which he won (before it was renamed) in 2012. Unfortunately after a long fight with cancer he dies at the age of 69.
