Eric Carle

Eric Carle is an American designer who is primarily known for is illustrations and writing of children's books. I figured seeing how our final project was book covers it would be fitting to have my last designer be related somehow
His most famous book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar, it is a picture
book that has very few words but has managed to get translated into over 62 languages and has sold more than 52 million copies. He has since published more than 70 books.
He was educated in Germany and his father was drafted into the German army During WWII, as well as he also being conscripted to help did trenches at the age of 15. His wife believe that this
experience has had a lasting effect on him in the form of post traumatic stress.
His career was actually started because Bill Martin, Jr. Noticed a lobster that he has created for an ad, and wanted to collaborate on a picture book, call Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? which became a best-seller.
He has an art style that is recognizable from his collage technique. He uses hand-printed papers, and his books have an added dimension of die-cut pages, twinkling light, or even sounds. He tends to draw his inspiration from his love of nature, which may help him also in his writing of these books seeing as children tend to share the same thoughts and frame of mind.
